Notes for further study from 1 Samuel 19 as individuals and 1 Samuel 21 in our small groups.
Here are some inductive bible study questions to help you think, pray through, and apply 1 Samuel 19:
1. Observation – What does the passage say?
- What actions do Jonathan, Michal, and David take to protect him from Saul?
- How does Saul respond each time David escapes?
- In this chapter, what role does God play in David’s protection?
2. Interpretation – What does the passage mean?
- What does the loyalty of Jonathan and Michal show about their character?
- How does God’s intervention in this chapter build faith in His protection and sovereignty?
- Why do you think the Holy Spirit intervenes to protect David? What does this tell us about God’s plans for His chosen people?
3. Application – How does the passage apply to us?
- Are there situations in your life where you need to speak up or stand for what’s right, even if it comes with risks?
- How can you develop a stronger trust in God’s protection, especially when you face trials or threats?
- In what ways can you become more sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading in your life?
